EXP 2: HERZOG AND DE MEURON - MUSE
Herzog and De Meuron's work is unique in a lot of ways, particularly in the materials they use. A lot of their projects utilise glass to harness natural light, which perfectly complements my design theory inclined towards nature. They also use a lot of wood, creating a warmth through organic materials. Their work also features sturdy materials such as concrete, giving a strong and robust aesthetic to the design. I decided to choose these three materials as core substance. Glass and wood accentuate the biotic concept of my theory, whilst the concrete reaffirms the urban motif of strength in the geometric side of the building. Together, these three materials simultaneously elevate and project my design theory.
